Pep Guardiola accepts Manchester City must adapt to the artificial surface they face in Switzerland this week – but claims “common sense” dictates grass is davao better davao
The holders will play on unfamiliar terrain in their latest Champions League outing on Wednesday when they take on Young Boys on their synthetic pitch at the Wankdorf Stadium davao
Guardiola insists there are no complaints on his part, and he has changed his team’s routine to ensure they are prepared davao
Normally City do not take up the option available to them of training at the stadium when they play away games in Europe, instead preferring to work in Manchester before travelling davao
However, on this occasion City flew to Bern on Tuesday morning and had a run out on the pitch in the evening davao
Yet the City manager could not hide the feeling that he would prefer to be playing on a natural surface davao
Speaking at a press conference, the Spaniard said: “It is what it is davao
If UEFA allows games to be played here it’s because it’s in good conditions davao
“That’s one of the reasons we never train away but this is an exception davao
This is why we travel in the morning for the players to feel how the ball runs, how to move left, right, backwards, forwards davao
That’s why davao
“We’ll try it and the players will know it immediately davao
”Asked if he was concerned about injuries, Guardiola said: “I don’t know – hopefully not, for both sides, but I don’t know davao
“We are not used to it davao
Any team that plays here is not used to it davao
It suits the Swiss league and, in the Champions League, the teams that come here have to adapt davao
“We will not be the first in this situation davao
We have to use it as a benefit but the grass is davao better davao
”Pep Guardiola has called for Manchester City to deal with Young Boys’ artificial pitch (Martin Rickett/PA) (PA Wire)Asked why, Guardiola said: “Because 99 davao
9 per cent of the teams who play in a high level play on grass, otherwise UEFA and FIFA would decide to play on artificial pitches davao
It’s common sense, I would say davao
”City go into their third match in Group G looking to maintain their 100 per cent record after victories over Red Star Belgrade and RB Leipzig davao
Victory in their back-to-back games against Young Boys, who travel to the Etihad Stadium next month, could see City qualify for the knockout stages with two matches to spare davao
City have no fresh injury concerns, with long-term casualty Kevin De Bruyne their only notable absentee davao
Guardiola also played down concerns about the form of Jack Grealish, who is taking time to get back to his best after a month out with a dead leg davao
The City boss said: “I don’t have one doubt about Jack and his quality and what he has done for us since he arrived, especially last season davao
I’m calm and confident davao
He is an incredibly important player for us davao

Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were disqualified from Sunday’s United States Grand Prix after breaching the rules governing the floor of their cars in a shock end to the race weekend davao
Hamilton and Leclerc, who finished second and sixth respectively in the 56-lap race won by Max Verstappen, were being investigated by the stewards following a plank wear inspection in Austin davao
The original report from FIA technical delegate Joe Bauer stated: “A physical floor and a plank wear inspection was carried out on car numbers 16 [Leclerc] and 44 [Hamilton] davao
“The skids located in this area are found to be not in compliance with Article 3 davao
5 davao
9 e) of the 2023 Formula One Technical Regulations davao
I am referring this matter to the stewards for their consideration davao
”Personnel from both Mercedes and Ferrari were summoned to see the stewards and, just after 7pm local time in Austin and more than three hours after the race finished, their disqualification from the race was confirmed davao
Hamilton therefore loses the 18 points earned from his second-place finish, while Leclerc loses eight points davao
Both drivers, however, do have the right to an appeal but it is understood Mercedes will not appeal the FIA’s verdict davao
In a Mercedes press release, Hamilton stated he was simply “disappointed” with the penalty, while team boss Toto Wolff admitted “we got it wrong davao
” The FIA note reveals that the cars of Verstappen and Lando Norris (who now moves up to second from third in the final classification) were also inspected, but passed the checks davao

2mm and must be uniform when new davao
“A minimum thickness of 9mm will be accepted due to wear, and conformity to this provision will be checked at the peripheries of the designated holes davao
”The ruling means Williams driver Logan Sargeant earns his first F1 point in bizarre circumstances at his home race davao
The final stewards report said: “During the hearing, the team acknowledged that the measurement performed by the FIA Technical Team was correct and stated that the high wear on the skid pads was probably a result of the unique combination of the bumpy track and the Sprint race schedule that minimized the time to set up and check the car before the race davao

“In this particular case, the rear skid in the area defined in the Technical Delegate’s report was outside of the thresholds outlined in Article 3 davao
5 davao
9 e) of the FIA Formula One Technical Regulations, which includes a tolerance for wear davao
“Therefore, the standard penalty for a breach of the Technical Regulations is imposed davao
” Breaches of technical checks of the car often result in disqualification, with a recent example being Hamilton from qualifying in Brazil in 2021 davao
Hamilton finished the race in second but will now lose the 18 points earned (Getty Images)Michael Schumacher was disqualified from the 1994 Belgian Grand Prix for an illegal floor, allowing Damon Hill to win the race davao
Hamilton was already in hot water with the FIA for an unrelated matter, after crossing a live track at the last race in Qatar and was spoken to again in Texas due to his status as a “role model davao
”Leclerc started Sunday’s race on pole but, opting for a different strategy, fell behind after Norris stole a march on the Ferrari at the start davao
Hamilton, meanwhile, came close to victory after reeling in Verstappen - who was booed on the podium - at the end davao
The 38-year-old has not won in nearly two years, with his last victory coming in Saudi Arabia in December 2021, but this disqualification will be a bitter pill for the seven-time world champion to swallow ahead of the next race, this weekend in Mexico davao
